Firearm Safety in Southern California

"This last Saturday I took the NRA Basic Shotgun Course taught by Mike Browne and David Damon.

I wanted to let you know what a fun learning experience it was. On a recent vacation, I had done a small amount of shooting with the shotgun for the first time. It was a fun experience, but I did not know many of the basics of what the range was, the pattern of the shot, the meaning of the gauges, types of ammunition, and what the proper transportation and storage were.

I learned about all of these things and about safe gun handling, basic shooting skills, how to determine the right selection of a gun that fits each individual and of the types and models of a variety of shotguns.

Mike and David teach the entire class and give individual attention in a low stress fun environment that moved at a pace so everyone understood the information without losing anyone's attention. I also want to express my gratitude for the assistance and pointers Ben and Kevin gave on the range.

I had a great experience and am inspired to continue with more of the shooting sports. I will encourage other beginning shooters to take the Basic Shotgun Course with Mike and David whenever the opportunity arises."

"I wanted to comment on our day at Doc Hollyday training recently, my sons and I spent the day with Dave learning fundamentals and practical shooting. I learned a lot and had a great time. We were impressed at the amount of organization that is needed for the class. Dave was very informative and answered all our questions. We are looking for the chance to do more with Doc Hollyday."
